Beekman Rec is a fun place to work and as a result the Department receives many applications each year for summer jobs. This gives the Department the opportunity to look for the best candidates. Typically applicants chosen have one or more of the following:

• Experience working with the public, especially children
• Leadership experience in school clubs or sports
• Volunteer experience
• An excellent work ethic that can be verified by references
• Superb references from teachers, advisors, church leaders, supervisors, coaches (not friends or relatives)

Youth interested in working for Beekman Rec are encourage to get involved in experiences that will give them the qualities and background listed above. To assist youth in gaining this experience the Rec Department offers two programs:

• Summer Camp CIT program
• Year-round Teen Leadership Council

The skills, experiences and references that come out of these programs are an asset to youth looking for jobs not only here, but elsewhere. It should be noted however, that even participation in these programs is no guarantee of a job at the Rec; there are many more youth in these programs than we have open positions each summer.

We are currently recruiting for Recreation Staff to work in our programs and events in the Fall, Winter and Spring. We are also accepting applications for summer positions, but will not interview for those positions until March. Summer applications are accepted until Feb. 26th.
