Adoption of Local Law #2 of 2006 Amending Town Code, Sign Regulations 155-57

RESOLUTION 4:3:06 - 1 RE: To Award Clean-Up Day Bids


________________ offers the following and moves its adoption:


WHEREAS, Town clean-up day has been scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2006 and Saturday, October 14, 2006 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Town Hall/highway parking lot; and

WHEREAS, only one bid was received for services as described in the legal published notice and opened and read publicly by the Town Clerk on March 24, 2006; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that Royal Carting Service Co. be awarded the contract for both clean-up days as follows:

Bulk Items $116.22 per ton
Tires: $216.00 per ton

And be it further RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and hereby is authorized to execute any and all documents necessary to carry out the services.

RESOLUTION 4:3:06 - 2 RE: Authorizing Attendance at Highway School

Councilman Thomas Kinsley offers the following and moves its adoption:


WHEREAS, the 2006 Highway School will be held June 5-7, 2006 in Ithaca, New York; and

WHEREAS, cost for the registration fee as well as lodging will be approximately $400.00; and

WHEREAS, funding is included in the 2006 budget; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the Highway Superintendent, David Temple, be hereby authorized to attend the 2006 Highway School.

WHEREAS, the New York State Association of Tax Receivers and Collectors 2006 Annual Training Seminar will be held June 11-14, 2006 in Rochester, New York; and

WHEREAS, the cost of $1,250.00 for registration and lodging for the Receiver of Taxes and Deputy Receiver of Taxes is included the 2006 budget; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that Judith Crawford and Margaret Woolley are hereby authorized to attend the 2006 conference.

RESOLUTION 4:3:06 - 4 RE: To Set Public Hearing for a Revision to Town of Beekman Land Subdivision Regulations – Permanent Dead End Roads

Councilman Werner Stiegler offers the following and moves its adoption:

WHEREAS, the Town of Beekman Planning Board has requested the Town Board to enact a revision to the Town of Beekman Land Subdivision Regulations of 1994 pertaining to permanent dead end roads, or otherwise referred to as cul-de-sacs, as the current wording of this section is lacking in definition and has resulted in safety issues due to an increase in new development; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that a public hearing on a proposed revision to the Town of Beekman Land Subdivision Regulations Section 31.7 entitled Permanent Dead End Roads be held on the 17th day of April, 2006 at 7:20 p.m. at the Town Hall, 4 Main Street, Poughquag, in the Town of Beekman, New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, that notice stating the time and place of such hearing and setting forth the proposed amendment, or describing in general terms the proposed amendment, be published once on or before the 7th day of April, 2006 in the Poughkeepsie Journal, a newspaper circulating in the Town of Beekman, and posted on the signboard of the Town.

Councilman Daniel French offers the following and moves its adoption:


WHEREAS, the Town of Beekman Recreation Department has planned a series of concerts for the enjoyment of the community during the summer months; and

WHEREAS, funding for these concerts has been included in the 2006 budget; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the Recreation Director is hereby authorized to enter into contracts with representatives from the following vendors and payment for these concerts is hereby authorized:

Bob Martinson Duo June 17 Opening Day Waterfront $400

RESOLUTION 4:3:06 - 6 RE: To Go Out to Bid for Heating/Air Conditioning System At Community Center

Supervisor John Adams offers the following and moves its adoption:


WHEREAS, the dual purpose heating/air conditioning unit at the Community Center has failed and is operating in a very limited capacity with an inability to be repaired due to its parts being obsolete; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that at such time bid documents are prepared, the Town Clerk is hereby authorized to seek proposals for a dual heating/air conditioning system in accordance with the Town’s Procurement Policy.

RESOLUTION 4:3:06 - 7 RE: Adoption of Local Law #2 of 2006 Amending Town Code, Sign Regulations 155-57

Councilwoman Barbara Zulauf offers the following and moves its adoption:


WHEREAS, a public hearing was duly held on March 20, 2006 on a proposed amendment to the Code of the Town of Beekman, regulating and controlling the location, size, type and design of existing and proposed signs; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, the Town Board of the Town of Beekman hereby adopts Local Law # 2 of 2006 amending Article 1X, Signs, Sections 155-57 of the CODE OF THE TOWN OF BEEKMAN; and be it further

RESOLVED, that certified copies of this Local Law be filed immediately in the offices of the Beekman Town Clerk and the New York Secretary of State; and be it further

RESOLVED, that this Local Law shall take effect immediately upon its filing with the Secretary of State.
