Schacht Property RESOLUTION 4:21:08 - 1 Authorizing Appraisal for Schacht Property
WHEREAS, the Lawrence Schacht Foundation owns two parcels of vacant land consisting of approximately 120 acres on Baker Road in the Town of Beekman; and WHEREAS, the Schacht Foundation has approached the Town and the Dutchess Land Conservancy about the possibility of acquiring the Schacht property for the preservation of open space; and WHEREAS, in order to move forward with these discussions, it is necessary to obtain an appraisal of said property; and WHEREAS, the Town has received three estimates from appraisal companies to perform the appraisal; now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the appraisal firm McGrath & Company, Inc. is hereby authorized to conduct the appraisal on the Schacht property at a cost of $3,500.00; and be it further RESOLVED, that the Supervisor is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with McGrath & Company, Inc. authorizing them to proceed. April 21, 2008 RESOLUTION 4:21:08 - 2 Extension of Town Wide Moratorium Supervisor John Adams offers the following and moves its adoption: WHEREAS, the Town Board on the 19th of November, 2007 adopted a Moratorium Law affecting certain building, subdivisions and other developments in the Town of Beekman; and WHEREAS, said local law was upon adoption enumerated as Local Law No. 9 of 2007 having an effective date of December 20, 2007 and a duration of six months; and WHEREAS, said local law provided that the Town Board could by subsequent resolution extend said moratorium for up to two periods of three months each; and WHEREAS, additional time is required in order for the Zoning Update Committee to complete its work; now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the moratorium provided in Local Law No. 9 of 2007 be hereby extended an additional three months. RESOLUTION 4:21:08 - 3 In Support of the Submission of the Compact Grant Application For the Town of Beekman Zoning Ordinance Update Councilwoman Barbara Zulauf offers the following and moves its adoption: WHEREAS, the Hudson River Valley Greenway is accepting applications for funding under the Greenway Communities Council’s Compact Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the Town Board of the Town of Beekman is in support of applying for the Compact Grant for the Zoning Ordinance Update, which is consistent with the Greenway Criteria and the Greenway Act; now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Beekman hereby authorizes the submission of the grant application for the Compact Grant to be used for the update of the town’s Zoning Ordinance; and be it further RESOLVED, that the Town Board authorizes the Town Supervisor to execute the Compact Grant application with the Hudson River Valley Greenway for the proposed funding. RESOLUTION 4:21:08 - 4 Music for Memorial Day Ceremony
WHEREAS, the Town of Beekman holds a Memorial Day service and parade each year to remember, reflect and honor those veterans who have served our great nation; and WHEREAS, funds have been included in the 2008 budget for Memorial Day; now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and hereby is authorized to enter into a contract with The PUMC Wind Ensemble for their participation in our service on Monday, May 26, 2008 at a cost of $250.00. RESOLUTION 4:21:08 - 5 To Authorize Attendance at Tax Receiver Training Seminar
WHEREAS, the cost of $360.00 for attendance at conferences is included the 2008 budget; now therefore be it RESOLVED, that Judith Crawford, Receiver of Taxes, is hereby authorized to attend the 2008 Annual Training Seminar. Seconded Councilman Werner Stiegler ROLL CALL VOTE: Date: April 21, 2008
RESOLUTION 4:21:08 - 6 To Set Public Hearing - Draft Economic Development Plan
WHEREAS, copies of the Draft Economic Development Plan are available for review from the Town Clerk’s office, the Beekman Library and on the town website; now therefore be it RESOLVED, that a public hearing on the Draft Economic Development Plan will be held on the 5th day of May, 2008 at 7:20 o’clock p.m. at Town Hall, 4 Main Street, Poughquag, New York; and be it further RESOLVED, that notice stating the time and place of such hearing and the purpose thereof, shall be published in the Poughkeepsie Journal, a newspaper circulating in the Town of Beekman, and posted on the signboard of the Town on or before the 25th day of April, 2008.
