8:04:03 - 1 Authorizing Highway Department to Install Sign RESOLUTION 8:04:03 - 1 RE: Authorizing Highway Department to Install Sign Supervisor John Adams offers the following and moves its adoption: WHEREAS, a resident of the Town of Beekman having a special-needs child has requested the Town to install a sign that would alert drivers to be cautious; now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Highway Department is hereby authorized to install a "Deaf Child" sign on Indian Pass Road. CALL VOTE: Dated: August 4, 2003 RESOLUTION 8:04:03 - 2 RE: Appointing Secretary to the Highway Superintendent Councilman Werner Stiegler offers the following and moves its adoption: WHEREAS, Town Law states that the Town Board shall make appointments and set salaries; and WHEREAS, a vacancy exists for Secretary to the Highway Superintendent; and WHEREAS, this position was advertised in the Poughkeepsie Journal with interviews subsequently held by the Highway Superintendent; now therefore be it RESOLVED, that upon the recommendation of the Highway Superintendent, the Town Board hereby appoints Deborah J. Mazzella as a full-time Secretary to the Highway Superintendent; and be it further RESOLVED, that Deborah J. Mazzella will commence work on August 18, 2003 at an hourly rate established at the 2003 Reorganization Meeting of $12.47. Seconded Councilwoman Patricia Santospirito ROLL
CALL VOTE: Dated: August 4, 2003 RESOLUTION 8:04:03 - 3 RE: To Authorize Speed Limit Study on Baker/Clapp Hill Road Councilwoman Patricia Santospirito offers the following and moves its adoption: WHEREAS, Baker Road and Clapp Hill Road have been exposed to an excessive volume of traffic due to a tremendous growth in the area; and WHEREAS sixty-four residents of that area have requested the Town to lower the speed limit to ensure the safety of the residents and their children; and WHEREAS, most recently a pedestrian was struck by an automobile and his dog was killed due to a vehicle traveling at an excessive speed; and WHEREAS, the Town Board suggests reducing the speed limit to 30 miles per hour; and WHEREAS, upon the Town's request, the State will conduct a speed limit study; now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the State of New York, Department of Transportation be and hereby requested to conduct a speed limit study on Baker Road/Clapp Hill Road; and be it further RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk is hereby authorized to complete and submit the required TE-9 application to the Dutchess County Department of Public Works.
