RESOLUTION 10:21:02 - 1
RE: Authorizing Purchase of Athletic Field Equipment and Construction of Little League Field Councilwoman Mauro offers the following and moves its adoption:

WHEREAS, Phase One of the Recreation Town Center Park Project includes the development of three soccer fields and one little league field; and

WHEREAS, the athletic fields have been prepared in accordance with the contract and the Town has assumed maintenance for these fields; and

WHEREAS, work still needs to be completed by the Town in order to have the fields ready to be used by the Spring of 2003; now therefore let it be

RESOLVED that the following expenditures be made from the Special Recreation Fund (SRF) Account:

Little League Field      
Construction of Infield with Stone Base & Clay     $ 8,000
1 Set of Bleachers     $ 2,200
Dugouts     $ 8,000

Soccer Fields      
1 Set of Goals     $ 2,000
2 Sets of Bleachers     $ 4,400
4 Sets of Corner Flags     $ 760
6 15' Benches     $ 2,010

and let it be further RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk be authorized to seek bids for the purchase of a backstop and fence to enclose the entire Little League field for which the cost will also be charged to the SRF Account.

RESOLUTION 10:21:02 - 2 RE: To Set Hearing on Pawling Lake Assessment Roll Supervisor John Adams offers the following and moves its adoption:

WHEREAS, the Assessor to the Town of Beekman has completed and filed the assessment roll for the Pawling Lake Estates Road Improvement District pursuant to Article 15 of the New York State Town Law; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that pursuant to § 239 of the Town Law a public hearing on such assessment roll shall be held on the 28th day of October, 2002 at 7:00 o'clock p.m. at the Town Hall, 4 Main Street, Poughquag, in the Town of Beekman, New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, that notice shall be published in the Poughkeepsie Journal on or before the 23rd day of October, 2002 stating that the Pawling Lake Estates Road Improvement District assessment roll has been completed and that the Town Board will meet and hear any objections which may be made to the roll at the time and place as specified above, and that such notice shall also be posted on the signboard of the Town on or before the 23rd of October, 2002.

RESOLUTION 10:21:02 - 3 RE: To Set Hearing For Volunteer Firefighters And Ambulance Workers Partial Tax Exemption Councilman Werner Stiegler offers the following and moves its adoption:

WHEREAS, Section 466-C of the New York State Property Tax Law ("RPTL") authorizes the governing board of a Town to adopt a local law to provide for the primary residence owned by an enrolled member of an incorporated volunteer fire company, fire department, or ambulance service to be partially exempt from general municipal taxes and special ad valorem levies so long as the property owner has been such a member for at least five years; and

WHEREAS, the partial exemption may be granted for the life of an enrolled member who has accrued at least 20 years of active service; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Beekman Assessor's Office recommends that providing the Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Workers partial tax exemption would have a minor impact on the taxable real property tax base of the Town of Beekman; now therefore let it be

RESOLVED, that a public hearing on the proposed Local Law to provide for partial tax exemption for volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers be held on the 4th day of November, 2002 at 7:15 o'clock p.m. at the Town Hall, 4 Main Street, Poughquag, in the Town of Beekman, New York, and that notice of the time and place of such hearing and setting forth the proposed local law be published once on or before the 30th day of October, 2002 in the Poughkeepsie Journal, a newspaper circulating in the Town of Beekman.

RESOLUTION 10:21:02 - 4 RE: To Authorize Attendance at Turfgrass Management Short Course Councilwoman Santospirito offers the following and moves its adoption:

WHEREAS, a Turfgrass Management Short Course will be held at the Cornell Campus, Ithaca, NY on January 6 -10, 2003; and WHEREAS, attendance of the Town's Maintenance Worker, Gregory Brown, will be instrumental in learning the basics of managing lawn and sport turf, soil management and pest diagnostics and control; and

WHEREAS, attendance is necessary for Mr. Brown to receive his New York State Pesticide re-certification; and

WHEREAS, funding for the $645.00 tuition is available in the maintenance budget as well as the cost for lodging; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that Gregory Brown be and hereby authorized to attend the Cornell Turfgrass Management Short Course.
